In the census record above we can see that his parents were called Lena and Herbert Allen and were from New York.
Allen attended the University of Washington and was majoring in mechanical engineering but did not graduate from there because of the war. Here is a picture of him from one of the yearbooks.
He then married fellow UW student, Lulu Wright, who then became Lulu Wright Allen on the 18th of July, 1916.
Allen then registered for the Great War and served in the Quarter Master Corps which was a supply division. It provided the necessities for soldiers in the trenches except for medical supplies and ammunition.
On the 19th of October, Allen died of the Spanish Influenza which was running rapid through cities and killing millions of not only soldiers but civilians as well. At the time of his death Allen had been a sergeant in an Officers's Training School near Bordeaux.
After his death Allen was commemorated for his efforts in the war by his old high school, Lewis and Clark High School, his university, University of Washington and the newspaper.
